My Therapy Services
At Cordial Counseling in Columbia, Maryland, I offer trauma-informed therapy for adults navigating anxiety, relationship struggles, identity exploration, family trauma, and emotional overwhelm. Whether you're looking for individual therapy, parts work therapy, expressive arts therapy, or brainspotting and EMDR, each approach is tailored to support your healing in a way that feels safe, empowering, and uniquely yours.
I specialize in helping people who feel stuck, burned out, or disconnected reclaim a greater sense of clarity, connection, and emotional balance.
Below are some of my most frequently requested counseling methods.
Expressive Arts in Therapy
Expressive arts in therapy use imagination, body awareness, and creativity to support emotional healing. This might include visual art for processing feelings or somatic movement to release tension. Clients engage creatively to reconnect with themselves and build more fulfilling lives inside and outside of therapy. These methods bypass the need for perfect words, allowing deeper parts of the self to emerge. Whether you're feeling stuck or overwhelmed, creative expression can offer insight, relief, and renewal.
Brainspotting (BSP) & EMDR
This is a body-based therapy that utilizes the brain’s natural capacity for healing. Many talk based therapies neglect the wisdom of our bodies, which can lead to a shallow ‘intellectual’ processing of past pain, while frustrating symptoms remain. Brainspotting uses simultaneous mind-body activation to retrain the nervous system out of dysfunction and into to a healthy homeostasis. Primarily used in trauma processing, brainspotting also helps clients move beyond ‘stuck points’, inner conflict, and indecision. Click here to learn more.
Individual Therapy for Family Trauma
Family trauma doesn’t just stay in the past, it often shapes how you see yourself, how you show up in relationships, and how safe or supported you feel in the world. Individual therapy offers a one-on-one space to explore those early experiences with care and intention. Whether you grew up in a high-conflict home, felt emotionally neglected, or are only now beginning to understand the impact of your upbringing, this kind of therapy helps you reconnect with your sense of self, understand long-standing patterns, and begin to heal on your own terms. Sessions are always tailored to your unique story and needs, grounded in curiosity, compassion, and a deep respect for your lived experience.
Parts Work in Therapy
Parts work honors the unconscious inner conflict associated with change. Many clients deeply desire change, even though it can be scary or difficult. In their determination for a better life they may attempt to bypass their anxiety, resentment, or grief through emotional avoidance or self shaming. These feelings can lead to self sabotaging behaviors and difficulty maintaining desired habits. Parts work helps clients learn to examine themselves with curiosity, compassion, and compromise. Through this lens, clients gain greater self understanding and the ability to achieve realistic goals.
